Download Voxbound

Voxbound is free to try. Install it, choose Try one book free, and make one complete audiobook, with chapters, tags and cover art. If it does what you need, buy a licence and enter the key in the same app: nothing to reinstall.

What you need

• Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. A Mac version is coming soon; there's no Linux version.
• Microsoft Edge WebView2, which is part of Windows 11 and up-to-date Windows 10. If it's missing, Voxbound says so and offers to download Microsoft's small installer.
• No administrator rights: the installer installs for your Windows account only, unless you choose all users (which asks for administrator rights).
• No internet connection for the trial, once WebView2 is there. FFmpeg, which does the audio work, comes with Voxbound.

Warnings when you download and open it

Voxbound isn't code-signed yet, and it's new, so Windows and your browser don't know it. You may see:

• In your browser, a note that the file isn't commonly downloaded. Choose to keep it (in Edge, the … menu, then Keep, and Keep anyway if it asks again).
• "Windows protected your PC" when you open it. Click More info, check that the app shown is Voxbound-Setup- followed by the version (or Voxbound.exe from the portable zip), then click Run anyway. To check the file arrived intact, compare its checksum.
• If Smart App Control is on (some Windows 11 PCs), Windows may block Voxbound with no option to run it until it's code-signed. Switching Smart App Control off lowers your PC's protection, and on Windows 11 without the April 2026 update it can't be switched back on without reinstalling Windows, so we'd rather you email support@voxbound.app.

How the free trial works

1. Install Voxbound and open it. The Activate Voxbound screen appears.
2. Choose Try one book free.
3. On the Editor tab, add your book's audio files, fill in the details, and choose Merge files. Chapters, cover art, loudness normalisation, player profiles (Apple Books, Audiobookshelf, Prologue) and the check Voxbound runs on the finished file all work as in the paid version.
4. Once the finished book plays properly, the trial ends and the Activate Voxbound screen comes back. Your book stays where you saved it.

The first merge you start picks the book. If a merge fails or you cancel it, merge the same book again; if the finished book doesn't play, you can remake it a few times. You can leave tracks out, but adding or replacing files counts as switching to different files, which you can do once. So does editing an M4A, M4B, MP4, FLAC or WAV file's tags in another program (an MP3's tags don't count).

The trial makes one book on the Editor tab. The batch queue, watch folder, folder scan, manifest import, Repair a file and Update tags only need a licence. There is one free trial per Windows account.

Buying a licence

A licence is a one-time purchase on Gumroad, with no subscription. Your licence key is in the receipt email and in your Gumroad library. Enter it on the Activate Voxbound screen, or during the trial in Settings by choosing Enter licence key. Activating needs an internet connection once; after that Voxbound works offline. Checking the download

To check that the file you have is the one we published, compare its SHA-256 checksum with ours. In PowerShell, in the folder you downloaded it to:

The checksums appear here once the page has loaded the current release. If they don't, email support@voxbound.app and we'll send them.

Installer or portable zip

The installer adds Voxbound to the Start menu, can be removed from Windows' Installed apps, and lets a licensed copy update itself from inside the app. The portable zip runs from any folder without installing anything; to update it, download the new zip. The portable copy still keeps its settings, the trial and your activation on the PC it runs on, so on another PC it's a new activation. Both are the same app, and the trial works the same in each.
